Vote 17 NY is a student-led, nonpartisan initiative working to expand voter participation in New York State. Our mission is simple: allow 17-year-olds who will be 18 by the general election to vote in primary elections. This commonsense reform strengthens civic engagement, increases voter turnout, and ensures young New Yorkers have a voice in the decisions that shape their future.

Our team is composed of student advocates dedicated to advancing a specific legislative reform that strengthens democracy in New York. Through research, coalition-building, and sustained legislative advocacy, we work to expand voter participation and ensure fair and representative elections.

Primary elections determine the choices voters see on the general election ballot. By supporting a focused legislative reform, Vote 17 NY aims to ensure eligible 17-year-olds are not excluded from this critical part of the democratic process.
